Those with a less-than-desirable smile can make considerable improvements without an invasive or expensive solution. Dental bonding is a cosmetic procedure that is relatively quick, painless, and results in a revamp that’s impressive. Go from feeling insecure to inspired! You won’t hide your smile once it’s spectacular.

Here at Smile Hilliard, our cosmetic bonding approach is perfect for patients seeking improvement to their teeth. We deliver a delightful outcome that is subtle while making you feel more secure with your smile. Learn more about dental bonding and decide if it is something that could be of benefit to you.

Am I A Good Candidate For Dental Bonding?

There are a number of reasons a patient may wish to explore the process of dental bonding. These common dental issues include:

  • Chipped or cracked teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Stained or discolored teeth
  • Irregularly shaped teeth
  • Short teeth
  • Exposed tooth roots

With dental bonding, these dental imperfections are corrected, with a natural-looking result that patients are proud to show off. Even with minor issues, it’s worth making a small improvement that boosts your self-confidence.

We will discuss your particular dental concerns to determine if dental bonding is the right solution to improve your smile. Most patients we see are good candidates for dental bonding if they are experiencing any of the aforementioned dental issues.

Those with extreme teeth sensitivity, decaying teeth, or gum disease may not be ideal candidates for cosmetic bonding. Your dentist will steer you in the right direction to address your dental issues during your consultation. If dental bonding doesn’t suit you, we’ll move forward with a solution that’s more appropriate for your needs.

Is The Process Of Dental Bonding Painful?

Cosmetic bonding is pain-free and considerably quicker than more involved dental procedures. In fact, the process generally takes less than one hour to complete. It is not only pain-free, but practical, and you will leave the office with a brand new smile that shines.

What Should I Anticipate During My Appointment?

If desired, we will whiten your teeth and then match the bonding material to your new hue. This composite resin color will look natural and shine as a real tooth does. Dr. Sanyk or Dr. Henderson will mold the resin to reshape the tooth being treated, hardened it with a UV light, and then polish it to perfection to match the surrounding teeth. The shape and size are custom to your mouth, and we can adjust as needed until you are 100% satisfied with your improved smile. It’s as simple as that.

If you are getting dental bonding work done on more than one tooth, we may suggest that you book multiple visits to the office. However, we are able to work on more than one tooth per session depending on your specific needs. This is something we can discuss during your initial consultation regarding the dental bonding procedure.

Do I Need To Care For My Bonded Teeth In A Special Way?

The bonded teeth are similar to your natural teeth in terms of cleaning and care. You may want to be mindful of staining, however. The resin may be more susceptible to becoming stained or discolored.

Try to avoid foods and drinks known to stain. Drinking through a straw can help limit your teeth exposure to staining beverages. Some beverages known to stain teeth include:

  • Red wine
  • Grape juice
  • Cola
  • Chocolate
  • Red tomato sauces/soups
  • Dark berries
  • Black tea
  • Coffee

Tobacco use can also stain the bonding material. Certain medications may stain as well.

Brush and floss your teeth as you normally would. Do not chew on non-food items such as pen caps and never chew ice. As always, see your dentist twice-yearly for general dental exams and professional cleanings to be sure your teeth and mouth are in tip-top shape. If you tend to grind or clench your teeth, discuss it with Dr. Sanyk or Dr. Henderson. A bite plate may be advised to protect your teeth and the dental bonding work.

The bonding should last for years if you take good care of your oral health and hygiene.
