COVID-19 Patient Policy Update

The COVID-19 epidemic, more commonly known as Coronavirus, has changed the landscape in which businesses will operate during this difficult time. At Smile Hilliard, we are constantly evaluating and updating our policies and procedures to ensure your safety when visiting the office. What may surprise you is that this is not new! We have always held a high standard for infection control and abided by the rules and regulations from OHSA and the CDC. However, due to COVID-19 and additional recommendations from the ADA, it is important that we notify you of some changes to our operation going forward. These changes will help to make each appointment safer, yet still comfortable, for you, our valuable patients!

Physical Distancing

  • Our traditional lobby is currently closed. Please call us at (614) 534-0257 to let us know when you arrive for your appointment. We will then call you back to notify you when your treatment room is ready.
  • Only the patient will be allowed in the office with a maximum of 1 accompanying adult per child under the age of 12 (if absolutely necessary).
  • Appointments will be managed to allow for distance between patients. As a result, there may be fewer scheduling options available but we will still strive to find a time that works for you.
  • We will attempt to complete non-treatment concerns via phone or email as much as possible. This includes scheduling appointments, updating patient information, signing consent forms, and prepayment of applicable co-pays whenever possible.
  • Receipts will no longer automatically be printed at the conclusion of appointments, however they will still be available upon request.

Infection Control

  • If you or a close contact has had any COVID-19 related symptoms such as fever, cough, shortness of breath, gastrointestinal problems, and/or loss of taste or smell in the 14 days prior to your appointment, YOU MUST CALL THE OFFICE AT (614) 534-0257 AS SOON AS POSSIBLE SO THAT YOUR APPOINTMENT MAY BE RESCHEDULED!
  • All visitors are required to wear a mask or face covering when entering the facility. Please provide your own whenever possible, as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is in very short supply. We will provide hand sanitizer upon your arrival.
  • We will take your temperature and fill out a health questionnaire to make sure that you are healthy to be seen for your appointment.
  • We have invested in more PPE such as gowns, head/hair covers, face shields, and N95 masks for our team members. We value their safety as much as we value yours!
  • We will provide an antimicrobial rinse for you to use prior to your procedure.
  • Each operatory and other areas of the office are equipped with medical-grade HEPA air filter devices that remove particles as small as 0.3 microns.
  • We have also invested in other intraoral devices to reduce aerosols produced by dental procedures.
